About us
10 July 2026 was our last day. Everyone who went on to build pynmo was laid off in the same wave, on the same morning.
Layoffs are not easy. They carry emotional weight and stress. There are phases of grief, shock and anger, followed by acceptance, and then whatever the job search brings. The stress compounds when immigration deadlines and money are part of it.
Yet there is no community for us. There are platforms to post anonymously, to vent, to upskill, to find coaches. We do not deny it, they exist. But there is no community, no place where we connect and look forward.
That is where the idea for pynmo began.
On pynmo you find your people, make connections and, most of all, get a space to build something valuable alongside your peers. It gives you structure to your day, a team, and a solution to drive and design. Those are the things you lose along with the job. We believe you do not have to lose all of them, and that some can be reclaimed. You can sharpen the skills you have or build new ones, and see for yourself that they are still relevant, or make them better than they were. Technical interviews are not easy, but we give you a path and some structure through them. You can find coaches who are already on the other side and willing to help you across. Once you’ve reached the other side, contribute. Give back to this community by referring or coaching. This is a community built for tech, by tech.
The pynmo team, founded by Shruty Janakiraman, met for an hour every weekday, for weeks, until launch day. We discussed, debated and designed a platform for tech workers between roles. A great deal of thought, research, instinct and feedback from recruiters and early users has gone into it.
We hope this platform helps you the way building it helped us, by turning a hard season into constructive work. Our own cohort is the evidence that the model works. pynmo is what came of it.
We are only getting started, so please send us your feedback. What you love, what needs improving, we are listening.
You’ve got this.
Welcome to your community.
